The Endangered Clouded Leopard

The clouded leopard is one of the world’s most beautiful and mysterious wild cats — yet many people have never even heard of it. Living deep within the forests of Southeast Asia, these incredible animals are sadly under increasing threat due to habitat loss and deforestation.

I wanted this illustrated birthday card to celebrate not only the beauty of the clouded leopard, but also the fragile tropical environments these animals call home. The design is filled with dense jungle foliage, butterflies and vibrant colour to capture the feeling of a rich rainforest ecosystem full of life and movement.

Clouded leopards are extraordinary climbers, often spending much of their time in trees, with beautifully patterned coats that help them blend into the forest around them. Their markings are completely unique and inspired the flowing shapes and layered detail throughout this illustration.
