The Story of Places
Share
Some places stay with us long after we leave them.
A colourful harbour, a favourite street, the shape of a church tower against the sky, or the feeling of sunshine on a seaside wall. These details become part of our memories, and over time they start to feel like little pieces of home.
My Story of Places patterns began with this idea — capturing the character and atmosphere of places through illustration.
Each design starts with sketching. I look closely at the small details that make a place unique: buildings, landscapes, flowers, wildlife, food, and everyday moments. These are drawn and then developed into patterns that tell a visual story of the place they represent.
Rather than simply illustrating landmarks, I like to include the feeling of a place — the colours, textures and small details that make it special. A lighthouse on the coast, a lemon tree beside a terrace, boats in a harbour, butterflies drifting through a garden.
These elements are combined to create patterns that feel lively, colourful and full of personality.
The Story of Places collection celebrates locations that hold meaning to me and others. Some designs are inspired by coastal towns and landscapes, others by vibrant Mediterranean scenes or familiar city landmarks.
When these illustrations are turned into patterns for homeware — on napkins, cushions and textiles — they become a way of bringing those places into everyday life.
A table set with a pattern inspired by a favourite place can spark memories of holidays, adventures and special moments. It’s a small reminder of the places that have shaped our stories.
Because sometimes a pattern is more than decoration — it’s a way of remembering where we’ve been, and celebrating the places we love.
